CTMH has really up-ed their workshop game over the last few years and Sweet as Honey is just another that will not disappoint. It will complement so many pictures (check out the third layout which I was able to fully complete with pictures of my family from our fall photo shoot). Retiring product happens and we always look forward to the shiny, new product that arrives on September 1st but when I look back on some of the fun (and crafty goodness) it makes me sad to see products go. I attended my first album retreat at the beginning of the pandemic. It was the first one that was offered virtually and that meant that I could attend without the need for time off work and the expense of a flight and hotel. I knew that these events were known for the artistic techniques and fresh styles of scrapbooking. Since that first one I have attended every single one offered – they are that good! Here are all the reasons I love this event.
The learning – I love to learn and this event does not disappoint. Even after being a consultant for 17 years I still learn something every single time!
Completing pages- from start to finish. Better yet I leave most events with 11 double-paged layouts.
FUN- these events make me laugh and smile. I have done them all at home and by myself but I don’t feel like I am by myself. The home office staffers are so engaging and funny- I enjoy every moment.
Recorded lives to view at my leisure. Yep- even if I need to run my kids somewhere I can still watch it all and complete all my projects. All the live sessions are recorded and offered to attendees.
5. SOOOOOOOO many goodies! When the album retreat box arrives it is full of new product goodness. It is so fun to dig through and see all the stamps (often one is exclusive to the event), accessories and PRE-CUT page goodness. Yes- everything is PRE-CUT!!!!
6. Just gorgeous pages- really this one is key. Look at the pages we will be creating in October. They always look fabulous in pictures but even BETTER in person. I cannot wait!!!

Prickly Pear- happy summer colours. Bright, vibrant and full of life! This paper is perfect for outdoor, summer photos, celebrations, birthday parties and fiesta’s! Although the cactus complements may seem funny to use up here in Canada- I found they made a super cute accent to my card (and you just never know when they will be perfect for a scrapbook page either!) The striped piece of paper is already my most fav piece in this collection.
Jack: Seriously?! How awesome is this paper! Buffalo plaid and lumberjacks that are super adorable! LOVE!!!!! As a Mom to a teenage boy, I am thrilled to have something that fits his activities (the few he does allow me to take photos of). The complements are so very cute and the coordinating stamp set and thin cuts has an adorable bear (and there is another stamp set that makes this a perfect fit for camping themed pages!)

For some the prospect of a single page layout can be scary. A bit of the unknown. Tonight (saturday) I want to help you embrace the single page layout and show it some love!
My first single page layout features my Grandma Kay and part of her family (she has not had all of her children at this point). I love the happy looks and comparing the kids in the picture to my Aunts now. To compliment the heritage photo I used the Memo fundamentals and pieces of the Rustic fundamentals. I then added some complements and ribbon with just a hint of colour. I have a bunch of family photos to finish scrapbooking and will continue this look for all of them.
Here is my other single page layout. My owl-dorable daughter in an owl hat my sister gave her. She was being so silly this day. Our Swan Lake paper paired perfectly with out Rustic Fundamentals (the barn board chevron) to create this layout. I added some Swan Lake complements and some of the Blue gems to finish this off.
Now I know when I place these in my album they will not likely match the layout they sit beside BUT sometimes the little moments or the older moments are just not something that can be shared in a two-page spread. Often in these smaller moments though you will find the most precious smile and the most precious memories. Be sure to capture and include those in your albums!
You know how sometimes life just wants to get in the way of all the good stuff?
I am glad to share that not only did I finally get some time for some new creations but life is starting to calm down a tad (being a Mom and full time Special Education teacher can really lead to some crazy times LOL). I had my weekend retreat a few weekends ago and got some of my scrapbooking done AND some workshop planning done! GO ME!

Christmas Cards 2010.
I love all the great photos I receive with my Christmas cards every year. I hold onto them so that I can work them into my albums and see how my friends and family grow and change year to year. As you can see from the year- I was a wee bit behind on this task! I love how this turned out though! My tree is made from zip strips and paper scraps from the City Sidewalks Paper pack. I added in some Kraft paper and Gold Shimmer trim with some circuit cuts and thin cuts (the Christmas word is from our seasonal thin cuts). I LOVE how it all came together!
Silly Faces.
This one page layout is simple but mixes up some of our Fundamental paper patterns to highlight my silly kid (this should have been her first day of school photo but she would not give me a proper smile). I added some gold embellishments and another thin cut word- ‘hello’. This layout came together very quickly!
