Cardstock Carnival- more techniques with cardstock!

As part of Cardstock Carnival I have been sharing techniques that are perfect for our white-core cardstock. Today I have two more to share.

The ‘Hay There’ card features paper leathering. This technique was perfect for the Pretty Little Ponies stamp and thin cut set as it adds to the outdoor and country feel. To achieve this look you need to spritz your cardstock with water (enough that you can scrunch it up without tearing). Once you have done that carefully unfold the paper and lay it flat to dry (I usually place something on top to help it stay flat). Once dry, lightly sand the cardstock. This will help you achieve the look of leather.

Paper tearing is another fun technique. On this card and layout I used shades of blue to achieve the look of waves. When tearing I hold the cardstock strips and tear toward myself- this gives me the best control over the tearing. Our stamp of the month (You’re the GOAT) has a cute little whale that was perfect to tuck into the waves. On the layout I added liquid glass along the torn edge- my aim was to mimic the crest of a wave.

I was really pleased with how these projects turned out- playing with cardstock is super fun!

July Kit – Craft with Heart Layout Subscription

So, maybe you have seen these before but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the CTMH layout subscription box. I love getting happy mail three times a year and the kits are always pretty, unique, and oh-so-fun to put together! I also like that I can add my own twist when I need to in order to make the layout work with my photos.

I just completed the ‘July’ layouts and I am again, so impressed. (I put July in quotations because you can put these together at any time once you have them but there is a kit for each month).

This first layout, ‘On the Road’ I left as it was in the kit. I didn’t need to add much as it worked really well with my photos and it was so pretty (I really wish that CTMH carried that road pattern paper because it is adorable!)

My second layout I did need to change a little because I had SOOOOOO many photos. I also did not want to cram them on the page and throw off the nice balance of photos and colours.

The Memory Protector Plus for 4×6 horizontal photos was the perfect way to add more photos. I added some cardstock in the colours that coordinated with the kit pages (blue belle and mint) and stretched the die-cut accessories a little farther so I could accent a few spots in the protector plus.

I also added a flip flap on the one part of the protector. It helps to visually tell the story of why my son is looking like a shark bit him! LOL! The water was cold and when someone jumped in … well, it was quite a shock!

If you have not yet checked out our subscription kit then I highly recommend you do- you can see all the details right here.

If you have the subscription I would love to hear about your experience- let me know in the comments below.

Canadian Blog Hop- May has arrived!

Welcome to the Canadian Blog Hop featuring products from our May/June Idea Book. If you have come from Heather’s blog then you are on the right path. There are so many great things it was hard to choose one thing to feature today- in the end, I decided to showcase the May special, ‘You are Enough.’ You can see all items in this product line here.

For this layout I used one of the patterns in our new Make it From your Heart- Volume 5. I used paper patterns and cardstock that allowed the colours to flow from one colour into another. A mix of regular cardstock and rose gold foil cardstock from You are Enough, was used to create my flowers with our 3D flower thin cut (love this set!).

Can you see the smaller details I added?

Watercolour paints were used to add some spatters in the same colour tones as the paper- this was a fun way to continue on the theme and give some interest to the white cardstock. I also added a generous amount of blue belle pearls- because they are so pretty!

Next, hop on over to Colleen’s blog to see what she has to share. I am sure it will be fantastic!

Canadian Blog Hop- March/April Inspiration!!

Welcome all to the Canadian Blog Hop full of inspiration from our March/April catalogue. If you have come from Joanne’s blog then you are on the correct pathway.

I am just LOVING our new line of product but I also wanted to share with you some inspiration using our fantastic cardstock because it is on SALE this month!!!

Our cardstock has some pretty special features:

It has a white core (so great for fun techniques like sanding or distressing).

It features TWO colours!! One side of the cardstock is the true colour and the other side is a lighter shade of that colour- so you really get two colours in one piece.

It is the perfect weight for scrapbooking and cardmaking.

My layout below features Candy Apple, Lagoon, Avocado, Glacier, Lemonade and White Daisy Cardstock and I make use of both sides to add variation to my colours. I also mix in just a little of our new paper suite “Eat, Play, Love” and the fun accessories that accompany this paper- the wooden shapes (I mean they are SOOOOO adorable) and the stickers. I finished the page with a splatter of lemonade shimmer and some simple black stickle accents. It all worked perfectly for my page all about homemade pizza.

Did you notice what I did with my journaling?

I mixed in some of the stickers from this paper suite and worked them into my story- what a fun way to accent your page and offer something just a little different!

Now hop on over to Sabrina’s blog to see what she has created to share.

Canadian Blog Hop- My Sweet Adventure

Welcome to our Canadian Close to my Heart Blog Hop. We will be showcasing some of the fantastic product from our January-February catalogue. Everyone will have something different but all of it will be fun, crafty and offer lots of inspiration! Now if you have just arrived from Brandi’s blog then you are on your way. Keep reading and hop on over to our next blogger at the end of my post.

Currently, I am really enjoying single page layouts but this one may have to develop a second page at some point (I have WAY more photos to go with it). For now, I am incredibly happy with how our Sweet Safari paper became the perfect paper to accompany the pictures of my daughter’s first time at sleepaway camp. Sweet Safari paper, stickers, cardstock and PUFFY STICKERS (yes they are so awesome!!!) all were used. I also used a special stamp set that will be released to everyone later this week. Can you find where I stamped on my page?

I hope I have inspired you and offered you some ideas using Sweet Safari- check out my blog for other inspirational ideas. Now, it is time to hop on over to the Kim’s blog HERE.

Say ‘Hello’ to the World of Sweet Safari

This colourful, playful paper is everything you need to brighten up your crafts and your day. You will love all the aspects of this paper suite-  pretty prints, cute  stickers, sloths, pretty paper, PUFFY stickers (my 80s child squealed when I saw these)!

It goes without saying that if you have a new bundle of joy in your life then this paper will be the perfect compliment but there are a lot of other ways to use Sweet Safari.

Of course, you could use it to accompany our new special, Hello World. These wooden number discs will coordinate beautifully for scrapbook pages or milestone photos. You could use these in so many other ways too!

Swee Safari can also be used to create some fun layouts that are NOT baby related. I have SOOOOOOO many fun photos from snapchat that will be perfect for this page. I used our hexagon thin-cuts (love them) our serif thin cuts (for the title) and one piece of our mix in paper to pull this together. I really love the look!

Where can you get all this goodness? Well at my SHOP of course!

Cross Canada Blog Hop- Central Park

Welcome to this month’s Cross Canada Blog Hop where we are excited to bring you paper-crafting projects featuring Central Park. If you have come from Krista’s blog then you are on the right path from one side of Canada to the other, consultant by consultant!

This month’s featured paper is Central Park- a bright, colourful paper that is perfect for all your summer memories! My first layout features a compilation of photos from one summer. I wanted a fun way to preserve these special moments but they were not enough for their own layout (even a one page). This layout was the perfect answer and I love how it turned out. I used the Central Park Complements and the Central Park sequins to complete this cute look.

My second layout is a one page layout. For this page I used the Central Park Paper, Complements, sequins and the sticker Alphabet (I seriously LOVE this sticker alpha!). This hot air balloon print is one of my favourite pieces of paper in the Central Park paper pack and it was the perfect fit for our Canada Day photos which all seemed to involve inflatables.

I hope you enjoyed my layouts. Now hop on over to Alyson’s blog to see what she is has created with Central Park.

Don’t forget to leave some comment love below.

Cross Canada Blog Hop

Welcome to the Cross Canada Blog Hop. In this blog hop you ‘hop’ across Canada as you visit CTMH consultant blogger’s! This month we are featuring whatever current product inspired us the most!

For my project I chose to focus on the Live Beautifully paper. I wanted to work with some heritage photos and one of the stories from my Grandmother’s life. This one was about her second daughter, who she gave up for adoption. It is a pretty amazing story and one that I would have loved to ask more questions about- sadly, she told her daughter’s about this little girl just before she passed away and we never had the time to ask anything. What I do know is that my Grandmother was much more complex than I had imagined and my imagination can fill in the rest!

St Patrick’s Day Inspired Techniques

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

What a fun day full of fun traditions – my little one was VERY excited about this day (she was really hoping she would see a Leprechaun!) I captured this picture of her this morning and printed it off right away- the day inspired my creativity and I was anxious to get out some green and gold and get crafting!
1st paddys layout st paddys card

I used our heart thin cuts to create my shamrocks and a mixture of gold shimmer brush and green re-inker to create my fun splatter effect! Check out the video to learn more about these techniques!

How did you celebrate St Patrick’s Day?
