Cross Canada Blog Hop: Summer Fun

Welcome to the Cross Canada Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring summer fun- that is easy to do when we have had such a great summer in my part of Canada.

For my summer fun project I decided to create a layout showing some of the fun we have been having. It is our first summer in our new home and we are lucky to live across the street from Lake Simcoe and have our very own neighborhood beach! It is sandy and shallow- the perfect beach and just steps from our door. Needless to say we spend a lot of time there.

To create my layout I used the Zoe paper, Zoe complements and Zoe accessories. I also added some images from the new Cricut Artistry cartridge (love it!)  If you have not ordered some of this paper yet then you are missing out- I do think it is the belle of the ball when it comes to our new Annual book- super versatile and so pretty!   You can place an order on my SHOP

Eat Your Greens: Zoe Layout

I know there is this myth that children do not like their veggies… apparently in some households the kids will go to any lengths not to eat things like broccoli, asparagus, brussel sprouts and other yummy things. Although I am far from a perfect parent I have managed to do one thing well- convince my kids that veggies are awesome yummy!

Now how did I do this? Really, I have no idea, but they both LOVE their veggies and will often ask for their fav- broccoli. In fact, this one time, when asked what treat they would like both my kids offered up broccoli (and really I expected chips or chocolate or something ‘treat-ish’). This time was one of those ‘treats’ and my daughter also told me she wanted to eat it with chopsticks- this left me confused for a few reasons. 1. How does she know what chopsticks are? I am sure that answer lies in one of her cartoons. 2. Do we have chopsticks? 3. How does she expect to actually eat with them?

Well, after some time we figured out that chopsticks in our house are the salad tongs and she actually did really well on the eating part…. after all, she ate her greens!

CTMH Convention -Make it from your Heart

IMG_6519

How do I sum up an amazing few days in California at the Close to my Heart convention- Make it form your Heart! I got to spend time with friends that I just do not see enough. I was blessed to be able to teach a class on Leadership day on how to lead a long distance team.  I met new friends (Carl and Russell from Up to name just two LOL)!

I was treated like royalty and won three awards! Number 6 in North America for Team Building and Number 1 in Canada for Straight to the Top (that means that I really help my new team members to build their business!). I also won the layout contest (see post from the other day on this one).

I was insane enough to get up before dawn to walk a 5K through Disneyland and California Adventure (really this is all about the photo opportunity since no one else is in the park AND it raises money for Operation Smile!)

We were even honored as Canadians with a special Canadian lunch!

The whole week was just amazing! YOU need to join us next year!!

Make it From Your Heart- Winning Layout

make if from your heart full layout

I still am processing just how amazing our recent Close to my Convention was! I have only been home two days and already I have so many amazing plans for the future and so much to be thankful for as well!

One area I am thankful for is the focus of this blog today- I actually won the layout contest at convention! 10 layouts were selected by home office from those submitted by consultants. We were to use the convention theme of ‘Make it from your Heart’.  Above you will see my full layout.  Literally the idea for this layout just came to me one day when I was working a baby show with a downline of mine. When I got home from that event I got started right away and finished this… it was perfect, just as I had imagined!

How did I do it?

No technical suprises or big tips on this one- to get my flip flaps to make a heart I laid them all out the old fashioned way. To get my heart big enough I had to cut it by hand (and actually made two. I then laid out my flip flaps and cut the second heart up so that the pieces could become the front of the flip flap. I had to make sure the lines all matched up so this process took some time but was well worth it! Inside I filled my heart with all the things that I make from my heart or put my heart into- my family, my business, my home! All the things I love!

I used the following CTMH product in my layout”

Wavy Blooms stamp set

Coral reef Sequins

CTMH Cricut cartridges (I used a bunch of them to mix my fonts up)

Watercolour pencils and blending pen

All of these materials can be found for purchase on the SALE part of my website.

Cross Canada Blog Hop: Mini Album

Welcome to the Cross Canada Blog Hop featuring mini albums! This month CTMH has a wonderful special featuring our Crush books so of course it only makes sense that I chose to focus on that mini-album!

IMG_6191

This month I created two Crush books for special team project. I decorated the front and the first double layout spread and then send the book on to a participating team member. She will do the same and the send it to another team member! Each book will make the rounds and by the end of the summer return to me- through this we will have fun, share our creativity and learn a little bit more about each other!

Here are my books:

IMG_6168

This one features the In the Pink series- now the assortment sold out yesterday so you can still purchase the crush book, clips and sticky tabs but you can no longer get the special on this one.

I love this one for its pretty colours and who it fits perfectly with just about everything! I have used one for a first year album, book about me and now a penpal journal!

IMG_6169

Here is the second book for my team. This one uses the Wildwood book and accessories (with some others added in).

Again so nice- more masculine. Perfect for outdoors camping but not selective to them. It also coordinates PERFECTLY with our Jackson paper and PML cards!!!
