Make it From Your Heart- Winning Layout

I still am processing just how amazing our recent Close to my Convention was! I have only been home two days and already I have so many amazing plans for the future and so much to be thankful for as well!

One area I am thankful for is the focus of this blog today- I actually won the layout contest at convention! 10 layouts were selected by home office from those submitted by consultants. We were to use the convention theme of ‘Make it from your Heart’. Above you will see my full layout. Literally the idea for this layout just came to me one day when I was working a baby show with a downline of mine. When I got home from that event I got started right away and finished this… it was perfect, just as I had imagined!

How did I do it?

No technical suprises or big tips on this one- to get my flip flaps to make a heart I laid them all out the old fashioned way. To get my heart big enough I had to cut it by hand (and actually made two. I then laid out my flip flaps and cut the second heart up so that the pieces could become the front of the flip flap. I had to make sure the lines all matched up so this process took some time but was well worth it! Inside I filled my heart with all the things that I make from my heart or put my heart into- my family, my business, my home! All the things I love!

CTMH Cricut cartridges (I used a bunch of them to mix my fonts up)

Cross Canada Blog Hop: Mini Album

Welcome to the Cross Canada Blog Hop featuring mini albums! This month CTMH has a wonderful special featuring our Crush books so of course it only makes sense that I chose to focus on that mini-album!

This month I created two Crush books for special team project. I decorated the front and the first double layout spread and then send the book on to a participating team member. She will do the same and the send it to another team member! Each book will make the rounds and by the end of the summer return to me- through this we will have fun, share our creativity and learn a little bit more about each other!

Here are my books:

This one features the In the Pink series- now the assortment sold out yesterday so you can still purchase the crush book, clips and sticky tabs but you can no longer get the special on this one.

I love this one for its pretty colours and who it fits perfectly with just about everything! I have used one for a first year album, book about me and now a penpal journal!

Here is the second book for my team. This one uses the Wildwood book and accessories (with some others added in).

Again so nice- more masculine. Perfect for outdoors camping but not selective to them. It also coordinates PERFECTLY with our Jackson paper and PML cards!!!

CTMH Retiring List

It is always sad to see product listed as retiring… especially if you have grown to love that particular accessory, paper or stamp!

BUT!!

Brae-er Team Blog Hop: In my Home

Welcome to the Brae-er team blog hop where this month we are going to show you ways to use our products throughout your home- there are so many options!! Here are a few I have in my home (and be sure to check back later this month- I will show you one more that is more fitting for an upcoming holiday!)

Here I am using one of our decor frames to display cards in my craft room- it is a quick spot to put them if I want to use them for later workshops or just inspiration!

This is our shadowbox frame with a layout inside of one of my daughter’s newborn pictures. This hangs in her room and she just loves it- best of all if we change the decor and the look doesn’t work anymore I can simply switch the layout out for a new one!

Another decor frame (cause there are so many great uses for these!) this time holding my necklaces and earrings! Pretty and functional!

Cross Canada Blog Hop: How to Books

Welcome to the Cross Canada Blog Hop featuring the fabulous How to Books that Close to my Heart offers customers! If you have come from Lucy’s blog then you are on way across our beautiful country! Just read on and then I will lead you to the next blog.

For my project I decided to take the card How-to book, ‘Wishes’ to create a layout. I find the card layouts the perfect fit for single pages and since I only had one photo of my daughter to scrapbook I could only do a single page. Here is the pattern I chose.

Now here is the layout I created using the pattern. I kept it simple and complemented the colours of my daughter’s dance costume (our blushed paper was the perfect fit for this) AND since another blog I follow was doing a challenge to use embossing folders- I added embossing to the squares of cardstock framing the picture. Simple but sweet.

Disney Aulani Hawaii Layouts

Our trip to the wonderful Disney Aulani Resort in Hawaii is fading but thankfully I will have my albums to remind all of us of the fun we had! I love getting to relive the moments and memories as I create my albums but even better is seeing the reaction of my family when they get to go through the whole album the first time- that will be very soon as I only have two more pages to complete!

This sunset cruise layout is one of my fave’s- I love how it came together with the Chalk it out Paper and PML cards!

I wish you could see some of these layouts in person- the picture does not always do it justice. The Art and Culture one is a good example- it has a lot of flip flaps on it which is why it is in the protectors. Each photo has a number that corresponds to my journaling – the journaling shares the history behind the piece. The Disney resort is the second largest hold of Hawaiian art! This tour showed us only a small portion and all I can say is WOW!

Cross Canada Blog Hop: Valentine’s Day

Welcome to the Cross Canada Blog hop where we are sharing out love of Valentine’s Day! If you have come from Nicky’s blog then you are on the path across Canada to see all our artwork- have fun and don’t forget to leave a little LOVE on every blog by adding a comment!

This holiday is one of my favourite smaller holidays. I love the colours, I love all the fun artwork I can create and I love that the holiday is about love!

Here is a banner I created for my mantel- I am really enjoying the mantel in the new house and decorating it for the different seasons and holidays. This banner was quickly made using the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge and the Artiste cartridge. I used older papers as they had the colours I was seeking (a great way to use up your stash) and added some glitter paper for sparkle.

My next project was one inspired by something I saw on pinterest. I used one of our decor frames and simply added hearts cut from all the CTMH cricut cartridges. I used a few different papers and sizes to add some variety. Added some mini clothespins to attach the hearts and done! A cut piece of art for the mantel that I can easily change out later!

January Brae-er’s Team Blog Hop- Year Noted Paper

Welcome to my Brae-er’s Team Blog Hop featuring the Year Noted Paper Kit- what comes in the kit is featured below and you can do SOOOOOOO many different things with this! My team will show you some of the fabulous ideas they have come up with in this hop!

So what did I make with this wonderful paper! I started out with some cards and even made a layout! (I also had enough left over for a mini book using the Kraft album but I am saving that for another post).

The cards and layout I used were simply made and feature the January stamp of the month OR the Year Noted stamp set. I love the soft colours of this set and they are perfectly set off by the gold stickers!

My layout (still needs photos) is designed to hang in my craft space and remind me of my business goals for this coming year. Prettiest goal planner EVER!

Where or where or where did I go??

As it turns out, moving takes a little bit more work than I anticipated and although I managed to keep up with LOTS of things, the one area I had to let slide was my blog and my creativity! I am glad to say that both of those are about to get back on track!

My craft room is painted and partly unpacked (I plan to share a big reveal when it is all done!).

My house and family are unpacked and I have to say we are fairly settled. This week I plan to take pictures of some of the stuff I have created and you will start to see regular posts again!

Family Friday: Montgomery’s on the Move

I am DELIGHTED to share that we are on the move… after a year and a half of trying to sell our cute little house we have finally been successful and were able to land the house of our dreams (pictured below!). We wanted this house for as long as ours has been for sale and thought many times that we were going to lose it but in the end everything worked out!

I am excited for the move (especially since we only have a month to get it all done and with two busy kids that is not going to be easy!).

I am also excited for new memories to be made, my new craft room (a dedicated room with a door!) and space to host workshops and team meetings once again!

October 30th cannot come soon enough!
