I have written before about why I love single pages. It takes a bit to get over the fact that the left side and the right side in my album will not match, BUT it means getting to scrapbook some pretty special memories that would not have enough photos for a double spread.
The great part of today’s single page saturday is that it allowed me to use up some of the scraps of patterned paper left over from my Dreaming’ Big paper pack- and I mean scraps! I paired with some cardstock and found a layout I liked on pinterest- voila! A layout that I love!
As I prepare for an upcoming trip to the Disney Aulani Resort in Hawaii (courtesy of Close to my Heart) I find myself creating fun layouts Mickey Mouse layouts for me and for my secret sister!
What is a secret sister? We secretly draw names from all the consultants attending the trip. While away we leave little gifts or do nice things for our sister… in secret of course. At the Farewell banquet at the end of the trip we give our final gift and reveal ourselves. It is always a highlight of the trip for me!
These three layouts were made as part of my gift for my secret sister… but I loved them so much I made an extra set for me!
The first layout is a simple “Make a Wish” layout. I used Hopscotch paper for a few reasons:
1. Close to my Heart used it in the album pages they pre-cut and pre-designed for us (I know! We are really spoiled and I will share all those pages in a later post).
2. The colours really ARE perfect for Hawaii!
I stamped some stars in across the page. Mickey was added using our Doodled Design stamp set. I added his ears by hand-drawing two more cirlces with our black journaling pen.
The Itinerary page is the perfect spot to quickly list the fun stuff we do each day- sunset cruises, Pearl Harbour, shopping, swimming, spa….. so MUCH to do! I used Hopscotch paper again and added accessories new and old.
How about a big hidden Mickey in this Smile layout! To me this layout is the perfect spot to add photos of the many family poses with Mickey or Minnie (in face I plan to have more than will fit on this page LOL). More Hopscotch paper but this time I added some glitter paper (for the sparkly Mickey’s) and some Hopscotch Picture my life cards (the title and camera came from those cards).
I cannot wait to share more Secret Sister projects with you!
You may not have heard but Jeanette Lynton (founder and CEO of Close to my Heart) has a new blog and challenges every week! They get announced on Monday and challenge you to use your creativity! You can find her blog here if you want to play along in these challenges (a new FUN one was just announced).
Last week she challenged everyone to create a page or layout showing their ONE WORD for 2015- the word that would be the driving force behind what they do. My one word is YOU- it represents my focus on others this year- my customers, my team and my family. I am not going to work super hard for a trip or for an award at convention (although maybe they are a happy offshoot of my new focus) instead I am going to focus on helping my customers create artwork that will cherish their memories and helping my team to achieve their goals and dreams. I am actually really excited about this new focus and already find it a little freeing and rewarding!
To remind me of my one word I created this layout with mini goals and my one word featured in the art- as well as a cute selfie pic of me and Monica Wihongi COO at Close to my Heart.
Do you have a goal or one word for 2015? I would love to cheer you on- share with me in the comments!
While perusing Pinterest I saw something that made me stop and head on over to the craft room (love those inspirational pins!). I found some photos and got to work creating this adorable one page Valentine layout! (and if you follow me on Pinterest- link on the left- then you will see my inspiration in my Layout Inspiration board).
For this layout I used the CTMH Heartstrings paper, complement, assortment and a variety of accessories: Chalk it Up stickers, puffy stickers and some red bakers twine. I love, love, love, LOVE how it came together!
This layout using a lot of layering and foam tape to add some dimension- most of my photos are popped up off the page as well as many of my stickers. The photos below show more of that.
All of my main squares were cut at 3 1/4 by 3 1/4 and then I used smaller pieces to hide behind them or under photos. It gave the look of larger pieces without cutting up all my pretty paper. I may have to try this valentine layout style with some other photos and patterns – so fun!
Welcome to my Brae-er’s Team Blog Hop featuring the Year Noted Paper Kit- what comes in the kit is featured below and you can do SOOOOOOO many different things with this! My team will show you some of the fabulous ideas they have come up with in this hop!
Now how can you get this gorgeous kit?
During January when you spend $50 with any CTMH consultant you can purchase this kit for only $5! and for an additional $5 you can also get the Optional Kraft Mini Book- this is such a great deal! If you don’t have a consultant just order in my SHOP here!
So what did I make with this wonderful paper! I started out with some cards and even made a layout! (I also had enough left over for a mini book using the Kraft album but I am saving that for another post).
The cards and layout I used were simply made and feature the January stamp of the month OR the Year Noted stamp set. I love the soft colours of this set and they are perfectly set off by the gold stickers!
My layout (still needs photos) is designed to hang in my craft space and remind me of my business goals for this coming year. Prettiest goal planner EVER!
Now hop on over to Roz’s blog to see the fabulous project she has to share!
The full list of hoppers is below and remember- share the love by leaving a comment!

I have no idea what was going on with the light in this picture- I used a nice sunny day but it looks like it was overcast LOL!
Anyways… for this single page saturday I decided to focus on me. Rarely do we scrapbook ourselves so I took the opportunity of having a photo that my three year old had snapped of me (she did a pretty good job). My inspiration for this layout came from a picture I saw on pinterest of the title for a journal entry. I thought it would make a really fun scrapbook title!
To get the effect of different fonts I used a variety of alphabet stamps (all Close to my Heart) and some of the stickers that come in the My Crush assortment (do I have you convinced on them yet??)
My journaling I kept simple- just added a few things I am loving right now! It actually sums me up pretty well! I also did MY handwriting- it is a layout all about me after all!
I love the thought of winter, I love it’s beauty and how pure and clean the world looks after a snowfall…. I HATE just about everything else about it LOL! It looks pretty, but this past winter especially, was super cold and full of LOTS of snow.
We made every attempt this year to enjoy it- on one occasion taking a family sleigh ride at a local farm. Fun, beautiful and COLD!! I did capture this pretty picture and it was perfect for a single page layout.
I used our new Snowhaven paper and complements for this layout- because of this it came together very quicky. I added a few of the silver sequins and some of the snowhaven assortments (the little white triangles) and the slate diagonal striped ribbon.
